Building a Sustainable Future

Power. Water. Food. One investment creating lasting impact for children, families, and community.

At HCO's Haven of Hope, sustainability means more than lowering expenses. It means stewarding resources wisely, strengthening the ministry for the future, and creating solutions that benefit the children in our care, their families, and our community.

We are investing $50,000 in three interconnected sustainability projects: clean water, solar power, and aquaponics.

Our water and reverse-osmosis system will turn our borehole water into a dependable source of safe, filtered drinking water, removing the toxic, extreme high amounts of fluoride that currently render it undrinkable. It will provide clean water for our compound while also creating the opportunity to make affordable clean water available to our neighbors through a community water kiosk.

Solar power will hardness Kenya's abundant sunshine to reduce one of our largest recurring expenses. This will not only power the daily usage of the baby center, but will also power the borehole & clean water initiative and the aquponics & greenhouse project.

Our growing aquaponics system combines fish farming with vegetable production. As the system grows, it can reduce food costs, provide practical training, and eventually generate income through the sale of fish and produce.

Together, these projects create something much bigger than solar panels, water tanks, or grow beds. They create greater independence, power operating costs, healthier children, stronger communities, and resources that can be reinvested into our mission for years to come.

$50,000 can help build the infrastructure for a more sustainable Haven of Hope!

Healing in the journey. Family is the goal.
